- Why your attention is worth more than time itself...
Why your attention is worth more than time itself...
Why attention is hands-down the #1 skill to leverage...
Read time: 90 seconds
Imagine this:
You moved into Scottsdale, Arizona 8 days ago because your friends showed you pictures & you fell for it…
You’re a week into your new apartment and the only job you could find is a sales job an hour away.
It’s June 18, 2024, a morning full of showers and that sweet desert smell.
It’s your first day of work.
You’re now subconsciously presented with a choice:
Do you:
1. Listen to music on your way to and from work?
2. Listen to a podcast on your way to and from work?
There’s millions of minuscule (perceptively negligible) decisions that can make your life tremendously better or tremendously mediocre —
and most of them (98% of them) require a cutting of instant gratification.
This is one of them.
Let me explain why this decision is bigger than it seems…
A one (1) hour commute to and from work is:
14 hrs a week…
56 hrs a month…
672 hrs a year…
26,880 hours is 3 years…
… that’s 3 YEARS of time by the age ~60…
Think about it…
That’s enough time to become more than an expert in any field without effort…
My advice?
Leverage this — pick a podcast in one skill you want to develop.
I can guarantee you that even after 20 hrs ALONE listening to that podcast, you’ll be utterly transformed… just by listening.
On the topic of podcasts, there was also a study done by Forbes…
Results showed that podcast listeners are 45 percent more likely to have a net household income of over $250,000 per year.
If that doesn’t scream skill acquisition, I don’t know what does…
Moral of the story?
It is imperative to know that what you pay attention to grows.
This is fundamentally true.
Read the scale every morning & you’ll hit your desired weight.
Open your bank account every morning & you’ll hit your target.
Prioritize your tasks every morning & you’ll hit them all.
Your attention is worth more than your time.
Why, exactly?
… Well both are non-replenishing…
But only one is under-leveraged in today’s times.
Value your time, but value your attention more and you’ve already won.
Remember,
Change your behavior — or else, you’ve learned nothing.
See ya next week!
P.S., the only way this grows is through word-of-mouth,
So if you know of 1 or 2 people who need to hear this,
Please send it their way.
You never know, it might just change the world of someone else.
